Welcome to The Bridge
There is a gap between your current state and where you want to be; it might be your weight, your income, your miserable marriage, or something else altogether. There are chasms between cultures and countries, between family members and friends. So, what do you do about it? When should you build bridges and when should you burn them?
Sometimes we need to sever the connection to yesterday’s version of ourselves to realize a better tomorrow. Every one of us has the potential to bridge the gap between who we currently are and the person we aspire to be. The enduring experiences of athletes, the insights of philosophers and authors, and the travails of musicians and artists can help light the way. We can learn from their failures, successes, regrets, and accomplishments if we are open.
Sometimes separation is exactly what’s needed. Other times we simply need to do the work to build the bridge. This publication will explore these situations through the seemingly disparate lenses of ordinary people doing extraordinary things in music, sports, culture, and more. Whether it’s due to the consuming fire or the horizon ahead, I hope you’ll find light at the end of The Bridge.
About Jason Tierney
Punk Hardcore. Ultrarunning. Pugs. Sobriety. Reading and writing. These are a few of the things that get me out of bed every morning.
The status quo, cultural derangements, an increasing reluctance to flex agency in our own lives, and a phobia of rodents are the issues that keep me up at night.
For the past 20 years, my career has been focused on the field of sleep medicine. From co-developing widely used oral appliances and countless continuing education events to building teams with a mix of innovative solutions and best practices, I’ve had a closeup view of sleep medicine becoming what it is today.
I saw so much that I actually wrote the book on it. Literally. My first book, Transform Dental Sleep: The Step-by-Step Guide to Doubling Your Sleep Patients, Increasing Physician Referrals, Simplifying Processes, and Improving Your Life spent 16 weeks as an Amazon Bestseller.
But I had a life before that too, and I’m living my best life now. Sometimes it feels like I’ve lived a hundred lives. I stagedove while playing shows with my band, met Ice-T, ran multiple ultramarathons, was a contestant on Wheel of Fortune, and due to the past seventeen years of sobriety, I’ll never again wake up in a strange bus station, random bed, or backseat of someone else’s car.
I read a lot and twice weekly I’m told I should write a book. I’m currently working on my second one that’s scheduled to hit shelves in early 2025.
